海角论坛鈥檚 President鈥檚 Award Renamed to Honor South Carolina Insurance Director Ray Farmer
During the 海角论坛鈥 (海角论坛) opening session to its 233rd National Meeting, 海角论坛 President and Commissioner of Florida鈥檚 Department of Insurance, David Altmaier, recognized South Carolina Department of Insurance Director, and 海角论坛 Immediate Past President, Ray Farmer, with the 海角论坛 President鈥檚 Award for Distinguished 海角论坛 Leadership (President鈥檚 Award).
The President鈥檚 Award is given at the discretion of the current 海角论坛 President and honors an 海角论坛 member who has shown exemplary leadership; has a sustained length of industry service; and who has contributed to advancing the mission of the 海角论坛.
鈥淒irector Farmer has displayed exceptional leadership at the 海角论坛 as he navigated the organization through a global pandemic, spearheaded the Special Committee on Race and Insurance, and served on the leadership teams for climate and resiliency, technology, data, privacy and cybersecurity task forces, as well as several other priority initiatives,鈥 said 海角论坛 President and Florida Insurance Commissioner, David Altmaier.
Following the presentation of the President鈥檚 Award, 海角论坛 President Altmaier, announced that the 海角论坛 President鈥檚 Award would be renamed in Director Farmer鈥檚 honor.
鈥淚t was the unanimous opinion of the 海角论坛 officers that leadership examples such as the ones Director Farmer set for all of us and has displayed during his 53 years of industry service, are truly profiles in courage that should be memorialized well beyond handing out this award. Today, I proclaimed that the President鈥檚 Award be renamed the Raymond G. Farmer Award for Exceptional Leadership, and it is the award to be presented for exceptional 海角论坛 Leadership from this day forward,鈥 said Altmaier.
The 海角论坛 President鈥檚 Award was first awarded at the 2008 Fall National Meeting to Commissioner, Jim Long. Other recipients include Commissioner Alfred Gross (2010); Commissioner, Sandy Praeger (2014); Superintendent, Joseph Torti III (2015); and Commissioner, Roger Sevigny (2017).
