State Insurance Regulators to Meet with Federal Legislators During º£½ÇÂÛ̳ 2023 Commissioner DC Fly-In

On April 25-27, the º£½ÇÂÛ̳ (º£½ÇÂÛ̳) will hold its 2023 Commissioner DC Fly-In. The annual event offers state insurance regulators the opportunity to meet with their members of Congress, discuss efforts to assist constituents, and advocate for state and º£½ÇÂÛ̳ priorities.

This year, chief insurance regulators plan to discuss:

  • Enacting a long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
  • Protecting policyholders during an insurance receivership
  • Strengthening health insurance markets and returning oversight of Medicare Advantage marketing to the states
  • Opposing federal preemption of state data privacy and cybersecurity safeguards
  • Preventing consumer protections in property insurance from being undermined by expanded risk retention groups
  • Passing:
    • Legislation to provide state insurance regulators a vote on the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC)
    • The Empowering States to Protect Seniors Act to support state regulators’ efforts to target senior fraud.
